Beauty and the Beast 3D Opens in Theaters Today

I loved Beauty and the Beast when I saw it ages ago and then watching it over and over again on VHS but seeing it in 3D with my kids sitting beside me was a real treat when we caught a preview last weekend.

The classic tale is sure to captivate a new generation of viewers with stunning Disney Digital 3D imagery and songs that are sing-along-worthy. Regardless of how you feel about princesses, you have to love book-loving Belle who ignores the boorish ways of Gaston in favor of reading her way through town and wanting “something more than this provincial life.”

Here’s information from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures about this limited engagement showing of Beauty and the Beast:
The film captures the fantastic journey of Belle (voice of Paige O’Hara), a bright and beautiful young woman who’s taken prisoner by a hideous beast (voice of Robby Benson) in his castle. Despite her precarious situation, Belle befriends the castle’s enchanted staff—a teapot, a candelabra and a mantel clock, among others—and ultimately learns to see beneath the Beast’s exterior to discover the heart and soul of a prince.
Featuring unforgettable music by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, and an enormously talented vocal ensemble, “Beauty and the Beast” was the first animated feature to receive a Best Picture nomination from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Did you know that the original Beauty and the Beast film was...
  • Nominated for six Academy Awards®, winning Oscars® for Best Song, by the renowned Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, and Best Original Score (Menken);
  • The first animated feature to cross the $100 million plateau in its initial release;
  • A musical that opened on Broadway three years after the film debuted. The musical opened at the Palace Theatre and ran in New York for 5,464 performances between 1994 and 2007, becoming the eighth-longest running production. It has played in 13 countries and 115 cities and continues to enchant audiences worldwide.
Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters today and includes an all-new short featuring Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder: Tangled Ever After.

My family received complimentary passes to attend the screening but all opinions are my own.
